Sunset, Granite Dells

Sunset, Granite Dells

Just made this image in Prescott Arizona. I have been to this seen several times and never had found "the great light." I'm happy with this one. This is the highest water level I have ever seen in Watson lake.
2 stop hard grad filter. This was shot in my camera's vivid channel. I actually desaturated the red channell just a bit in lightroom.

Sedona Star Trails

A recent photo. I was on an overlook and it was chilly and windy. My batteries were getting low, and since it was in an area that people could get to, I could not chance leaving my gear there unatended, otherwise I would have left the exposure longer to make the star trails compleatly round. Polaris is the star that has not moved.

Dancing Joshua Tree

Here's another recent Joshua tree shot. This one I made at sunrise, near the extra terrestrial highway in Nevada. I used an off camera strobe to fill in the shadows on the Joshua tree. If you can let your imagination run wild a bit here, you can see human like figures dancing within the tree in celebration of the warm sunlight on this frigid morning

Sedona Sky

Sedona Arizona. This really falls under two catagories, landscape and cityscape. In my opinion this whole area should had been a national park, with no houses within it. I am sure those who live here would disagree with me, and I can't blame them.

The calling

The calling

Black and white duotone. This was a tough one. The wind was realy blowing. Blowing sand in my face and my camera. I couldn't bracket the photo, so I used a graduated filter and activated, Active D lighting, on my camera to hold the dynamic tones

Temple of the Sun.

Temple of the Sun.

The ranger said I would never make it through the miles of jeep track in my 1965 Plymouth Barracuda while trying to get to Cathedral valley in Capitol Reef NP, Utah. I made it to the cathedral valley mid day in the early spring. The light was flat and no one around. So I soaked up the sun and waited for the storm which came in the evening. I made my images and then drove like hell to get out before I got stuck in the rain and mud. It was hard not to hit the cows throughout the night. They shouldn't be in a national park, and they had destroyed the wild grasses and tore up much of the intermittent streams. Driving a vehicle in these beautiful sensitive areas has a price to pay as well.

Black and White

So I decided to go ahead and make a black and white photo gallery. This gallery is a collection of photos from the other galleries, so you will see them intermingled among the color photos. This way if you just want to see black and whites you no longer need to search through all the other photo galleries.
Cheers!
